The Dallas Cowboys have made a trade. And no, it doesn’t involve superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys are acquiring 2022 second-round pick and cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for fellow corner Nahshon Wright. The deal is pending physicals.

The Vikings used a second-round pick (No. 42 overall) on Andrew Booth in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Clemson product was limited to six games in his rookie year because of a knee injury, and he finished with 12 tackles.

Though Booth appeared in all 17 games last season, the former Tiger only started one game. He had one pass breakup and eight combined tackles.

While Andrew Booth gets a fresh start in Dallas, Nahshon Wright will get to vie for more playing time in Minnesota. A third-round pick (99th overall) in 2021, Wright appeared in 32 games with Dallas but was only a starter for three games.

In three years with the Cowboys, the soon-to-be 26-year-old Wright finished with five pass defenses and 37 combined tackles.

Booth played at Clemson from 2019 to 2021, recording five interceptions, nine pass breakups and one forced fumble. He helped Clemson to a 2019 national championship game appearance, where they fell to the Joe Burrow-led LSU Tigers.

Andrew Booth Gets The Fresh Start He Needs

The Vikings had two different defensive coordinators (Ed Donatell in 2022 and Brian Flories in 2023) during Booth’s tenure in Minnesota, and neither of them were confident enough to give him a starting job.

It was obvious that the ex-Clemson star needed a change of scenery. And it’s hard to think of many better landing spots than Dallas, a team with two All-Pro corners in DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs.

Booth will get the chance to flourish on a Dallas team that has churned out a top-10 defense in each of the last three years. This trade feels like a win-win for both teams, who get the opportunity to revive the career of a young and talented corner that hasn’t put it all together yet.
