Former Texas Longhorns star and veteran NFL quarterback Colt McCoy is finally done with his NFL career.
He is a year removed from playing in the NFL, but former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy is done playing as he announced his retirement from the league on Monday.

McCoy won’t be headed home to spend time with his family as he has already landed a new job.
A press release revealed on Monday that Colt McCoy will join NBC Sports for their coverage of Big Ten Football.

The former two-time Heisman Trophy finalist will begin his broadcasting career next month with the clash between Colorado and Nebraska on Sept. 7.
NBC Sports announced that McCoy will serve as a game analyst and appear on the Big Ten College Countdown studio show.
“Colt McCoy, a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist at the University of Texas and 14-year NFL quarterback will join NBC Sports as an analyst for Big Ten Football coverage, it was announced today,” the NBC Sports press release read. “McCoy will serve as a game analyst and will also appear on the Big Ten College Countdown studio show.
“He will make his debut alongside Paul Burmeister (play-by-play) and Kathryn Tappen (sideline reporter) in primetime as head coach Deion Sanders, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and the Colorado Buffaloes visit head coach Matt Rhule, quarterback Dylan Raiola, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Big Ten Saturday Night, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.”
Colt McCoy was released by the Cardinals just before the 2023 season and did not sign with another squad.
Colt McCoy Was A Stud In College Before His NFL Career
Colt McCoy, the two-time Walter Camp Award winner, was a four-year starter for Texas from 2006 through 2009.
He was everything to the program, throwing for 13,253 yards, 112 touchdowns, and 45 interceptions. He was also quite quick with his feet, racking up 1,571 yards and another 20 scores, per ESPN.
Behind McCoy, he helped lead the Longhorns to the national championship game against Alabama as a senior, but an injury in that game would stop him from accomplishing his goal.
The Cleveland Browns selected McCoy in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft and has also been a member of the San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals, primarily being used as a backup.
In his career, Colt McCoy racked up 7,975 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions.
