With flag football set to debut at the Olympic Games in 2028, some of the most widely known players are already beset with excitement. Shedeur Sanders isn’t one of them, however.
The Colorado quarterback will likely be in the NFL by the time the event kicks off in Los Angeles four years from now, but he doesn’t see himself wanting anything to do with it.
Shedeur was asked whether he’d want to participate in the games while speaking to his brother Deion Sanders Jr. on their ‘2Legendary’ podcast, and his reply was a terse “No.”
He had a decent reason for his answer.
“Cause, bro, you could get injured, bro,” he added.
NFL teams would probably have similar concerns over their players taking part in the Olympics.
The CU star also pointed out that the timing would be less than ideal, given that he would be competing in the games during a period when NFL players are typically preparing for the upcoming season.
Darrell Doucette Shouldn’t Have To Worry About Shedeur Sanders
It appears Shedeur Sanders is one less quarterback multi-time flag football champion Darell Doucette has to worry about, having recently pushed back on the idea that NFL stars should get automatic spots over players who have put in the work over the years.
“At the end of the day, I feel like I’m better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ of the game,” he told TMZ. “I know he’s right now the best in the league, I know he’s more accurate, I know he has all these intangibles, but when it comes to flag football, I feel like I know more than him.”
As for Sanders, he will be focused on having a good second season for the Buffs and keeping his draft stock high. Who knows? He may have a change of heart by the time the 2028 Olympic Games roll around.
