NFL fans were loving Taylor Decker’s priceless player introduction for NBC “Sunday Night Football” between his Detroit Lions and the visiting Los Angeles Rams.
Taylor Decker and the Lions kick off their highly-anticipated 2024 season against old friend Matthew Stafford and the Rams. This is a rematch of last season’s NFC Wild Card Round, a 24-23 victory that marked the Lions’ first playoff win since 1991.
For SNF player instructions, the players say their names followed by their alma matter. But instead of saying “Ohio State”, Decker kept it shorter and sweeter by simply stating, “Taylor Decker, THE.”

For those unfamiliar, Ohio State University is often called “The Ohio State University.” According to the school’s library website, university officials adapted this nickname to avoid confusing the “OSU” abbreviations with other major American schools like Oregon State University or Oklahoma State University.
And fans were absolutely loving Taylor Decker’s unique SNF player introduction:
He was like – how can everyone hate us more – I got it… THE

After helping the Lions to their first NFC Championship Game appearance since 1991, Taylor Decker was awarded a lucrative three-year contract extension worth $60 million. Fellow tackle Penei Sewell (four years, $112 million), wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (four years, $120.01 million) and quarterback Jared Goff (four years, $212 million) also got massive extensions in the offseason.
Following Sunday night’s tilt against the Rams, the Lions will stay in Motor City and prepare for another home game against Baker Mayfield’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Taylor Decker Has A Legitimate Shot At A Super Bowl
The 31-year-old Decker has been loyal to the Detroit Lions through the good, the bad and the ugly. His loyalty is finally being rewarded with a chance to win a Super Bowl once and for all on a star-studded Detroit team.
Detroit is one of four teams that has never played in a Super Bowl. But one can argue that this is the best team Motor City has had in the Super Bowl era, so we’ll see if they can finally break through this year.
