With every new development, the Tyreek Hill situation gets crazier and many other celebrities are seaking out on what they saw.
The day after the Miami Dolphins wide receiver was arrested, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley was on the Roc and Manuch Show, where they asked about his thoughts.
“I don’t know what happened, I think it clearly escalated quickly. I hate that we’re gonna throw it into media because the guys are gonna quickly go to race, and it bothers me because we don’t know what happened. We got so many fools in the media who love to play the race card,” Barkley said.
Charles Barkley voiced some concerns about the handling of the situation by many in the media and even compared it to the situation involving Scottie Scheffler being arrested before the second round of the PGA Championship.
“I hate that we’re gonna throw it in the media because the guys are going to quickly go to race, and it bothers me because we don’t know what happened. We got so many fools in the media that love to play the race card, I saw wait a minute they just did the same thing to Scottie Scheffler.”
Barkley added that a celebrity can’t pull that card when pulled over, which Tyreek Hill never did, and that everybody should cooperate in that situation.
“I think the one thing you can’t do as a celebrity, you can’t say, ‘Do you know who I am?” Barkley said. “Like I said I don’t know what happened but that’s the one thing you can’t do. You say, ‘yes sir,’ cooperate 100%.”
He blamed Hill for making the situation escalate after reading the police report.
“I saw on the police report he was uncooperative, but the one thing I hate is when we put stuff in the media, and we let guys who race bait start throwing stuff out there,” Barkley said. “I saw wait a minute the same thing just happened to Scottie Scheffler, who actually got booked, he went down to the big house.”
Despite the pregame turmoil, Tyreek Hill wasn’t the least bit phased as the Dolphins ultimately secured a 20-17 victory over the Jaguars, with Hill playing a key role in the conference win.
He finished the day hauling in seven passes for 130 yards, including an 80-yard reception for a touchdown.
Tyreek Hill Was ‘Shellshocked’ After Watching Bodycam Video of His Detainment
Tyreek Hill said he was “still shell-shocked” and “embarrassed” following a controversial police detainment that occurred just hours before the team’s season opener on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The news dominated headlines as teams around the country were gearing up for the opening of the 2024 season.
In an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Hill said the traffic stop could have turned tragic were he, not a famous figure, telling her the story could have been, “Tyreek Hill got shot in front of Hard Rock Stadium?”
Hill was ripped by his arms and head from his car during a traffic stop Sunday morning just outside the stadium, hours before the season opened.
Recently released body cam shows cops got angry when Hill closed his car window and didn’t reopen it quickly enough.
“I really wasn’t on that kind of energy. Like, I was chilling. I was following the rules. I wasn’t moving fast because, you know, I got injuries. You feel me? I got things that I go through. I’ve been doing this for a moment now, man. So I’m dealing with some stuff. I’m still kinda shell-shocked from it,” Hill told Collins.
