Katy Perry won the Video Vanguard Award at last night’s VMAs – the highest honour the award ceremony can possibly give.
Winners typically perform as a means to pay thanks and prove why they won the award – and people can’t get enough of how Perry looked while waiting to perform on the VMAs stage.
Established in 1984, the award is ‘essentially MTV’s version of a lifetime achievement award’, as per Business Insider.
To mark winning the award, Perry performed a 10 minute medley of her top hits, including ‘California Gurls’ and ‘E.T.’
And who could be better to present the 39-year-old American with the award, other than her fiancé Orlando Bloom?
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 47, took to the stage to gush about his other half – as well as reveal her real name.
Bloom told the crowd: “Give it up for our newest Video Vanguard, Katheryn Hudson,” before adding ‘Katy Perry’, to clear up any confusion.
He added: “You fell in love with her as Katy Perry, I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson.
“You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light and her unique sense of humour into every song she writes and every music video she creates.
“I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same sense of love and joy to our family.”
The tear-jerking speech concluded with: “She loves with her whole heart and it’s kind of irresistible. Congratulations on this honour baby, I’m so proud of you.”

But it’s less the speech that people are fixated on, and more to do with how Perry looked as she waited for Bloom to finish so she could start performing.
One specific camera angle showed Perry suspended in mid air in a harness and a bodysuit as she waited to launch into her iconic performance.
One user on X wrote: “Losing my mind at katy perry just dangling waiting for orlando bloom to finish introducing her for her vanguard award performance #VMA.”
Another user added: “This is so funny.”

And someone else simply said: “Insane.”
Following her performance, Perry gave heartfelt thanks.
She said in a rousing speech: “My Katy Cats, you stood by me for a lifetime and the LGBTQ community who I recognise I would not be here without.
“You showed me that you can be both kind and snatched. Thank you to Orlando for keeping me grounded, celebrated and doing the dishes. And lastly, for my Daisy, the only flower I’ll ever need.”
