NFL fans are calling for head coaches Brian Daboll and Doug Pederson of the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars, respectively, to be fired after their teams lost in Week 2 on Sunday.
Brian Daboll’s questionable coaching decisions proved costly in the Giants’ 21-18 loss to the NFC East rival Washington Commanders that dropped Big Blue to 0-2 on the season. Doug Pederson was also guilty of some head-scratching calls that backfired in the Jags’ 18-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
With both the Jaguars and Giants in 0-2 holes, the NFL fans are calling for both coaches to receive their pink slips before Week 3:
Honestly, two years in a row of not having a kicker in a game and now losing because of it is enough to fire Daboll tomorrow

I would like Mara or Schoen to publicly tell Giants fans who was fired for the decision to let Gano play today.
Or Mara should fire Schoen or Daboll. It’s unacceptable and there needs to be accountability. #Giants100

Doug Pederson’s weird obsession with Press Taylor is going to get him fired from two organizations over a five-year span. https://t.co/g7sVtrfQSk

Doug Pederson will be fired at the end of the season if Trevor Lawrence continues to look more like Joe Flacco circa 2011 and less like one of the most hyped quarterback prospects in NFL history. They wrote stories of this man being the next great NFL QB. He’s been disappointing.

The Giants lost kicker Graham Gano on the game’s opening kickoff with a hamstring injury, forcing Brian Daboll to pass up on field goal opportunities throughout the contest. Gano came into the contest dealing with a groin injury, so pundits are wondering why the Giants didn’t bring in another kicker as a precaution.
So instead of attempting a go-ahead 39-yard field goal at the two-minute warning, the Giants had to go for it on 4th-and-4. Malik Nabers dropped an easy pass from Daniel Jones, and the Commanders won on a last-second Austin Seibert field goal.
And Brian Daboll was visibly upset after the loss:

In Doug Pederson’s case, it was just another uninspiring performance by Jacksonville’s star-studded offense. Trevor Lawrence was only 14-of-30 for 220 yards and had no touchdowns, as the Jags were held to under 20 points for the second straight week.
Pressure Is Building On Brian Daboll & Doug Pederson
Brian Daboll’s Giants and Doug Pederson’s Jaguars were two of the biggest surprises in 2022, qualifying for the postseason and pulling off upsets in the Wild Card Round to reach the Elite Eight.
But both teams have gone backwards ever since, missing the playoffs in 2023. Now at 0-2, both face awfully long odds of rebounding and sneaking into the postseason with tough schedules ahead of them. So it’s definitely not too early to start wondering about the futures of both coaches.
