Texans’ CJ Stroud issues message to LB Azeez Al-Shaair after Trevor Lawrence hit

Texans quarterback CJ Stroud discussed the hit on his Jaguars counterpart in a postgame interview on the field. Stroud told FOX Sports sideline reporter Laura Okim:

“It was tough to see [Trevor Lawrence] go out like that. Azeez, I don’t think that was his intent. It sucks to see a player ever go down. I’m always trying to pray over both teams whenever we take the field. Everybody wants to leave the field healthy. Prayers go up for Trev.”

Stroud also went out of his way to defend his teammate Al-Shaair for the hit.

“I’m still rocking with my brother. I know he didn’t mean it. He didn’t intend to do that. He’s got to be more careful.”

That win means the Texans are now 8-5 heading into their Week 14 bye. They have firm control over the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts second at 6-7.
