Star NFL quarterback could make shock return THIS WEEKEND – despite being told he could miss four weeks with knee injury

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love could return from injury as early as this Sunday despite being tipped to spend four weeks on the sidelines.

Love limped out of the Packers Week 1 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil earlier this month after suffering what appeared a gruesome knee injury with six seconds to go in the fourth quarter.

Replays showed the 25-year-olds knee seemingly popping under the weight of a tackle before he hobbled off, with initial reports claiming he had suffered an MCL sprain that would keep him out of action for three to four weeks.

Yet according to ESPNs Adam Schefter, Love is in with a chance of returning this weekend for Green Bays showdown with the Tennessee Titans.

A source is quoted as saying that they wouldnt be surprised if the franchise quarterback lines up against Tennessee on Sunday, before assessing his chances of doing so as 50-50.

Even if Sundays game proves slightly too early, he would almost certainly be back for next weekends meeting with the Minnesota Vikings, which would mean he only missed two fixtures for the Packers – who beat the Indianapolis Colts in his absence at the weekend.

Love only signed a four-year contract worth $220million with Green Bay back in July.

The former Utah State college star was selected by the Packers with the 26th overall pick at the 2020 NFL Draft, before spending three seasons as backup to Aaron Rodgers.

After Rodgers left for the New York Jets last year, Love took on the starting quarterback spot and impressed in his debut campaign, recording 4,159 passing yards for 32 touchdowns last term.

His superb start eventually came crashing down in the Divisional Round, where he threw two interceptions in a gut-wrenching 24-21 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Love was subsequently rewarded with his bumper new deal over the summer, which included a $75m signing bonus and $155m guaranteed.
