A North Texas couple were the victims of a brutal attack at a Dallas Cowboys game after trying to stop a fight last month.
Wenceslao Gonzalez, a longtime Cowboys fan, attended a game for the first time on September 22, with his wife and daughter joining him at the AT&T Stadium. His family got him the tickets for his birthday, but it turned out to be a terrible gift as both he and his wife have had to go under the knife since going to support the team.
“I never thought I’d be able to attend a game,” Gonzalez said, per CBS. “For my wife and daughter to be able to do that for me was very special for me.”
The couple said they saw a man screaming at a young woman while leaving the game and tried to intervene.
“And she was sobbing and she looked scared and she looked very similar to the age of my daughter,” Lindsey Gonzalez said.

She recalled telling the woman to walk away from the irate male before he turned on them.
“I know he was in my husband’s face and he had already hit my husband in the face,” she continued. “I was trying to separate them. And that’s all I remember. Next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital.”

Lindsey said the man knocked her out cold with a punch. Arlington Police noted that her daughter and other witnesses saw him kick her in the face while she lay on the ground unconscious.
“I think I have a total of 12 fractures in my face,” she said. “Around my left eye, left cheek. My nose had several fractures, my jaw was broken on the left side.”
Surgeons used four metal plates during the surgery on her face, but they don’t know if she will ever look the same.
Meanwhile, Wenceslao has undergone surgery to repair torn ligaments in his leg.

“Never imagined something like this could ever happen,” Lindsey said. “Never.”
Police have arrested 32-year-old Rafael Ramirez, who has been charged with two counts of assault and causing bodily harm.
“I never wish bad upon anybody or want to see any harm come to anybody,” Lindsey said. “I do want him to pay for what he’s done though, and I want it to be fair and just. Our whole world has been turned upside down. Our lives may never be the same after this.”
