The mother of San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr.’s two-year-old daughter feels she needs a raise.

According to TMZ, Jennifer Rodriguez is taking the San Diego Padres back to court as she is seeking an increase in child support.

In the court documents, Jennifer Rodriguez claims that ever since she became pregnant with his child in 2021, he has treated his fatherly duties as a “business arrangement.”

Jennifer Rodriguez already receives $20,000 a month in child support, which comes out to around $240,000 a year. That is apparently not enough, as Rodriquez is now seeking more.

“I have come to understand how little [our daughter] has compared to the benefits that Fernando receives for being a visible MLB star and local San Diego celebrity,” she said. “I have also come to understand how much it will cost to support a child to live at Fernando’s station in life.”

Rodriguez has also pointed out in the court documents that Tatis Jr. lives in a huge mansion and has several luxury vehicles, and for that reason, she says her daughter deserves to share in that same lavish lifestyle.

In 2021, Fernando Tatis Jr. signed a 14-year, $340 million contract extension with the San Diego Padres.

The deal was the longest in Major League Baseball history and one of the largest contracts ever in American sports. In addition to the money, it included a full no-trade clause and established Tatis as the face of the Padres for the next decade.

Before that deal, Tatis led the Padres into the playoffs for the first time in 13 years and finished fourth in MVP balloting.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Has His Lawyer Respond To Increase In Child Support

Fernando Tatis Jr. is in the midst of leading his team to the divisional round against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he has to deal with off-the-field issues from the mother of his child.

Jennifer Rodriguez receives $20,000 a month in child support and is ready to take him back to court for an increase.

Tatis Jr.’s attorney, Michael Strauss, has since released a statement.

“Ms. Rodriguez’s decision to push out a false narrative about Fernando and the Tatís family is nothing new…He is confident in the legal process and trusts that Ms. Rodriguez’s claims about him will not hold up in court. He loves and supports his daughter and will continue to do so.”
