Carrie Underwood may not be an NFL player, but she is synonymous with the league for one of the most important reasons: her theme for ‘Sunday Night Football,’ where most of the teams play their weekly games.
Underwood is married to former NHL star Mike Fisher, who played in the league for nearly 20 seasons, split between the Nashville and Ottawa Senators. Obviously, being involved in the Nashville culture, Underwood is a country artist, so there’s no doubt she would write a catchy tune for the NFL.
Fans have been wondering for a while how much the country star gets paid for the NFL’s use of the song and filming for it, and reports have finally come out showing that she gets paid more than some players in the league.

Carrie Underwood Is Earning $18 Million From ‘Sunday Night Football’ Theme
According to ML Football, Underwood is paid $1 million a week, adding up to $18 million a season, for using her vocals to promote the NFL’s ‘Sunday Night Football,’ and many players aren’t even earning that much to play.
One NFL fan even pointed out that the country artist makes more than San Francisco 49ers signal-caller Brock Purdy, commenting, “She makes more for 10 seconds worth of singing than Brock Purdy makes per year. Let that sink in.”

Other NFL fans questioned why the Oklahoma native is making so much money to sing the song, asking, “Why? Is anyone watching SNF because of the artist singing the opening song?” Not only is she making more than Purdy, but she is also making more than Bengals star Ja’Marr Chase in 2024.

While some fans may be complaining and others praising the country music star, odds are we will still be hearing her voice for the rest of the season. ‘Sunday Night Football kicks off for week six, with the Bengals taking on the Giants in a matchup of two struggling teams.
