Ohio State and Michigan are squaring off in “The Game” on Saturday, and Gus Johnson is polarizing in the booth to call the game.
In the fourth quarter, Johnson may have just had his most iconic moment as a broadcaster ever,
While Michigan was on the two-yard line, they ran a play-action pass. Davis Warren attempted to throw to the left corner of the end-zone but would throw it right at Buckeye defender Jack Sawyer.
It was possibly a game-saving play, and Johnson lost his mind while trying to call the play but simultaneously lost his voice.
Johnson’s commentary has become an even bigger deal than the interception on social media.
“Honestly I made the exact same sound with some cusses mixed in,” said one comment.
“Gus Johnson really a national treasure lmao,” said another.
“How did Kevin Hart get in the booth,” added a third.
“Gus lost his damn soul!!!!!!,” joked another.
“Demonic possession would be another way to describe it,: another wrote.
You at least have to admire Johnson’s deep investment in the games he calls, but it’s the last thing you want to hear if your team messes up like that.
Some Fans Have Not Liked Gus Johnson In The Booth For Ohio State vs. Michigan
As an announcer, it can be very hard to sound completely unbiased and for everyone to love you. Of course, for as much as people like Johnson in the booth, as many hate him.
It’s become very obvious that college football fans are extremely divided on their feelings towards the broadcaster.
