Urban Meyer was one of the best coaches in college football during his tenure with the Ohio State Buckeyes. From 2012 to 2018, Meyer went 83-9, winning an extremely coveted National Championship in 2014.

While Meyer may have been a good college head coach, the Jacksonville Jaguars found out that it doesn’t always translate to the NFL after hiring the now disgraced but decorated football coach.

The Jags moved after drafting former generational Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence in 2021. Meyer would lead the team to a 2-11 record before getting fired during the season after several controversies.

Now that Meyer will never be back in the NFL as a head coach of any franchise, it seems he is keeping his options open. According to Jay Crawford, Meyer may be eying a return to the college ranks.

Could Urban Meyer Return To Ohio State?

Meyer mentioned that he is interested in heading back to Ohio State, claiming that he is intrigued by the idea of returning as the Buckeyes’ head coach. However, it is unknown whether or not the Buckeyes organization feels the same way.

Ohio State went 7-2 this season, earning themselves the fourth spot in the BIG 10. Their last game was an unfortunate loss to the Michigan Wolverines as the game was kept close, ending with a score of 13-10.

According to multiple reports, the Buckeyes’ current head coach, Ryan Day’s future is in jeopardy after their unfortunate loss to the Wolverines. Could Meyer make a return if day doesn’t, only time will tell.
