LeBron James is expected to leave the Los Angeles Lakers after stepping away from the team.
The season is not going according to plan in L.A. following JJ Redick’s arrival as head coach. The team is in eighth place in the Western Conference and has lost 11 of their first 24 games for a 13-11 record.
Redick told reporters the All-Star forward was out due to “personal reasons” during practice on Wednesday, which follows his absence against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday.
“LeBron is not with the team right now. He’s out for personal reasons, excused absence.” Redick said, per ESPN.
“I don’t know yet,” the coach said when asked if James would return for Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. “Again, it’s personal reasons, so he’s taking some time.”
