Chiefs HC Andy Reid gives injury update on DB Chamarri Conner after Week 15 win over Browns

Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Chamarri Conner was ruled out of Sunday’s game due to a concussion.

He took a knee to the head in the first half, and was taken straight to the locker room.

After Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns, head coach Andy Reid gave an important update about the young defensive back.

“Chamarri Conner has a concussion. Tough kid. Boy, I’ll ya. He took a wallop, and he gave a wallop and got kneed in the side of the head there,” Reid told reporters. “But he’s doing well now, which is the most important thing, and we should be good there.”

Connor is now in concussion protocol, putting his status for the Chiefs’ next two games in question.

In just six days, Kansas City will face off against the Houston Texans. And then on Christmas Day, it’s a tough matchup against the Steelers.

Sunday’s win over the Browns marked the start of a three game stretch in just 11 days for the Chiefs.

The injury occurred in the second quarter after Connor went to tackle Browns running back Nick Chubb. Conner’s helmet and Chubb’s knee/thigh pad collided on the play, and he immediately went down on the field.

Trainers helped him walk over to the sidelines, and he appeared dazed, confused, and slightly out of it, but he seemed responsive and reactive, speaking with his teammates as he left the field.

He was ruled out shortly after.

Prior to leaving the game, Connor had four total tackles.
