Prayers are coming in for Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Reddick following some disheartening news from NBA insider Shams Charania.

Redick revealed that his family was among those forced to leave their homes earlier this week due to the wildfire sweeping across L.A. The fire burned through a hillside where Redick and other celebrities lived, causing evacuation orders for tens of thousands.

The former NBA sharpshooter spoke about the situation before the Lakers played the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.

“I just want to acknowledge and send thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Palisades right now,” he said before the 118-97 loss. “That’s where I live.

“Our family, my wife’s family, my wife’s twin sister, they’ve evacuated. I know a lot of people are freaking out right now, including my family. From the sound of things, with the winds coming [Tuesday night], I know a lot of people are scared. So I just want to acknowledge that. Thoughts and prayers for sure, and hope everybody stays safe.”

JJ Redick Has Reportedly Lost His Home

Charania has since revealed that the head coach has lost his home as a result of the indiscriminate blaze.

“Tragic fires in L.A. have impacted so many, including Lakers personnel such as head coach JJ Redick who lost his home,” the ESPN reporter announced on Thursday afternoon, also noting that the game between the Lakers and Charlotte Hornets is postponed.

“Prayers for the Redrick family 🙏🏽,” an X user wrote in the comments.

“prayers to coach Redick ,his family and to all families that were affected across LA🙏🏿,” someone added.

Authorities did not reveal the number of buildings either damaged or destroyed in Pacific Palisades, though they revealed that around 30,000 residents were under evacuation, with over 13,000 structures in the path of the fire.

The National Weather Service previously warned that a windstorm preceding the wildfire could be life-threatening and the strongest to hit Southern California in over 10 years.

Meanwhile, Redick is not the NBA coach affected by the blaze, with Golden State Warriors HC telling reporters his 90-year-old mother was among those forced to evacuate as well.
