Kyren Lacy, a former wide receiver for LSU expected to be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, is wanted by Louisiana State authorities for his alleged part in a hit-and-run accident that left one dead and two injured.
According to WAFB 9, a police report claims Lacy was involved in a traffic accident that killed a former United States Marine and injured two other people on December 17.
The wideout is accused of causing the crash and then fleeing the scene, failing to report his involvement to the police.
He is said to have been driving a 2023 Dodge Charger southbound on LA Highway 20 and “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone.”
The former LSU star is facing a charge of negligent homicide. Police noted they were “in communication with Lacy and his legal representation to turn himself in.”
He declared for the NFL Draft just two days after the accident.
Kyren Lacy Turned People Off With His Controversial Celebrations
Kyren Lacy played for the Tigers for three years, registering 112 catches for 1,692 and 16 touchdowns. He played for Louisiana-Lafayette for two seasons before transferring.
The wideout proved a controversial character on the field due to his fake gun celebrations that prompted several unsportsmanlike conduct penalties over the past season.
“That wasn’t malice. He’s such a high-strung young man that’s all he works on,” LSU coach Brian Kelly said in his defense. “He’s in the locker room saying, ‘I need to maintain my emotional control.’ He’s working so hard on that. That’s why I was so angry, I was angry at the circumstances because he’s going on it.”
It appears the 24-year-old has landed himself in actual serious trouble given this latest development.
His victim has been identified as Herman Hall, who was transported to hospital before he succumbed to his injuries.
