Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers had some fascinating comments about rumors of a potential $6 million transfer before his team’s Cotton Bowl showdown with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

In recent weeks, speculation has ramped up about Quinn Ewers forgoing the 2025 NFL Draft and instead entering the transfer portal. The reason? It’s been reported that Ewers has received a $6 million offer to transfer.

While speaking to reporters on Thursday ahead of the Cotton Bowl and College Football Playoff semifinal vs. Ohio State, Ewers refused to comment on the matter, per Tim Capurso of Sports Illustrated:

“First off, I think I’d be doing a disservice to my teammates about me even thinking about what’s next… What’s right in front of us isn’t over yet…not looking too far ahead because I’ll trip on what’s right in front of me.

That’s too selfish of thinking for me to even be thinking about what’s next for me.”

It’s well-known by now that Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is ready to hand the keys over to highly-touted backup Arch Manning in 2025. Manning is the son of Cooper Manning and the nephews of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning.

If Quinn Ewers forgoes the NFL Draft to enter the transfer portal, he wouldn’t be the first big-named QB to do so in the new year. Georgia Bulldogs signal-caller Carson Beck, long viewed as a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, entered the transfer portal and committed to the Miami Hurricanes.

The winner of the Longhorns-Buckeyes game will face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 20.

Quinn Ewers Looks To Continue Excellent 2024 Season

After a nice breakout season in 2023, Ewers further improved his production this year by completing 66.5 percent of pass attempts for 3,189 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions to go along with two rushing scores.

Ewers’ Longhorns fell 37-31 to the Washington Huskies in the CFP semifinal and Sugar Bowl game last year. The opportunity to redeem themselves after a heartbreaking loss is right in front of them.
