Taylor Swift is not typically associated with controversy, so it was surprising for her to be booed by a significant portion of the 75,000 spectators, leaving the singer seemingly bewildered.
Support has poured in for the 35-year-old songstress from other celebrities, following the incident when the cameras showed her at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, where she was met with boos from the crowd.
Swift was in attendance to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, as his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Serena Williams, the renowned tennis player who retired in 2022, took to Twitter to show her support for Swift.
She tweeted: “I love you @taylorswift13 dont listen to those booo!!”
The tweet quickly gained traction, with hundreds of comments and over 700,000 views at the time of writing.
A fan remarked: “Eagles fans are booing her. She’s originally from Philly area but obviously rooting for Travis and Chiefs.”
Another individual added: “The booos are from Eagles fans aka the opposite team she supports this is normal.”
Yet another person commented: “Grown a** men booing Taylor Swift seriously get a grip.”
Despite the jeers, Swift handled the situation gracefully, laughing off the boos but also appearing perplexed by the reaction.
She seemed to mouth the words: “What is going on?”
While Swift faced boos at the Caesars Superdome, President Donald Trump received a different response.
Trump was greeted with cheers as he became the first sitting US president to attend the Super Bowl.
Trump and Swift have had their share of history, as the 78-year-old expressed his disdain for her on his Truth Social platform during his presidential campaign last year.
He posted: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
This post followed Swift’s call to her fans to vote, indicating her support for Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Swift’s political stance was highlighted after Trump’s campaign mistakenly shared a fake AI-generated image of her endorsing the Republican party.
Meanwhile, earlier today, Kelce was spotted in a striking Amiri suit from the fall/winter collection, featuring a red jacket and pants, a matching shirt, tinted sunglasses, a black duffle bag, and chunky white and black shoes.
Speculation arose that Swift might have influenced his choice of pre-game attire.
