Fans speculate Kendrick Lamar targeted Trump with subtle lyric change in Super Bowl show

Fans are speculating that Kendrick Lamar may have taken a jab at President Donald Trump with a nuanced change to his lyrics during his Super Bowl halftime performance.

The renowned rapper led the entertainment at the highly anticipated sports event on Sunday (February 9), delivering some of his most popular tracks to an audience in New Orleans.

Whether it was Serena Williams making an on-stage cameo or Samuel L. Jackson making an unexpected appearance, Lamar’s halftime show was packed with surprises.

As viewers took to Twitter to dissect the potential ‘hidden meanings’ within Lamar’s performance, some are convinced the artist subtly critiqued President Trump with a lyrical tweak in one of his songs.

“Kendrick Lamar seems to have changed his lyrics to take a shot at Trump, who is also in attendance at the Super Bowl tonight…” a social media user commented.

They further questioned: “What did he mean by ‘The revolution is about to be televised, you picked the right time but the wrong guy?’”

Another user echoed: “‘THE REVOLUTION IS ABOUT TO BE TELEVISED. YOU PICKED THE RIGHT TIME, BUT THE WRONG GUY’. Kendrick Lamar.”

A third person noted: “‘The revolution boutta be televised you picked the right time but the wrong guy’ IN FRONT OF DONALD TRUMP IS CRAZY KENDRICK IS HIM.”

Samuel L. Jackson’s sketches during the halftime show also captured the audience’s attention, with some perceiving them as critiques of Trump.

In one segment, Jackson humorously told Kendrick, ‘he’s too ghetto,’ before adding: “Yes! America wants slow chill music.”

These remarks come after President Trump ordered that all U.S. government employees engaged in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives be placed on immediate paid administrative leave.

The president is rapidly advancing his agenda to dismantle DEI programs, having rescinded Executive Order 11246 (1965). This move implies that government workers responsible for DEI activities in the Department of Labor will see these programs halted ‘immediately’ while they are on paid leave, The New Republic reports.

The law aimed to protect workers from discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.

Supporters have long argued that it levels the playing field for underrepresented groups, including LGBTQ+ individuals.

Trump’s order seeks to prevent companies from making hiring decisions based on race and sex.

The directive states: “As a part of this plan, each agency shall identify up to nine potential civil compliance investigations of publicly traded corporations, large non-profit corporations or associations, foundations with assets of 500 million dollars or more, State and local bar and medical associations, and institutions of higher education with endowments over 1 billion dollars.”
