Ohio State is in mourning this week after the tragic announcement that Donovan Munger has passed away at the age of 30.
Munger, a former college football defensive lineman who played for the 2014 Ohio State national championship team, tragically lost his young life at the age of 30, his mother announced on social media.
The cause of death was not revealed, but the big guy had dealt with blood clots during his football playing days, which forced him to cut his time on the field short.
“My heart will never beat the same. It is with my deepest sadness that I formally announce to the world the passing of my eldest child, Donovan Munger. Pray for my family,” his mother wrote in an Instagram post.
Munger was a four-star recruit in the 2013 class out of Cleveland. He attended Shaker Heights High School and eventually joined Ohio State.
His 2013 season as a freshman was redshirted due to his being diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism in his lungs.
Luckily, Donovan Munger was able to recover enough to be cleared to play and played in 11 games for the Buckeyes during the 2014 season.
Donovan Munger Was Part of A Historic Ohio State Team

Former Ohio State football star Donovan Munger passed away earlier this week at the age of 30.
He was best known for his three seasons as a Buckeye, starting as a four-star defensive-line recruit.
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Munger made his collegiate debut in 2014 after being a standout high school football player. He had five total tackles and one tackle for a loss during the season.
Donovan Munger would experience success as the Buckeyes finished 14-1 and won their first College Football Playoff National Championship against the Oregon Ducks.
The following season, he would appear in 11 games, but a blood clot eventually caused him to retire from football altogether.
