Social media has been abuzz about Karmelo Anthony, but it has nothing to do with basketball or the former NBA player.
The high school student has been charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of another student at a track meet in Texas.
The incident occurred Wednesday morning at a Frisco Independent School District stadium during a track and field championship involving multiple schools in the district.
Anthony has been identified as the suspect in the stabbing death of Frisco High School student Austin Metcalf.
Anthony and Metcalf got into an argument, during which Anthony stabbed Metcalf. He would be taken to a hospital where he died.
At the scene, cops had a blue tarp where the incident took place after everyone in the stadium was evacuated to school buses.
Karmelo Anthony has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He is being held without bond.

The principal of Metcalf’s school, Brook Fesco, sent a letter to the parents of his fellow students, which read:
“Tomorrow morning, we will acknowledge Austin’s death during 2nd period and will offer support throughout the day. District and campus counselors will be available to support your child through the grieving process.
As a parent, your guidance and support will be important in helping your child process grief. Talking about this together, face-to-face will give you a chance to discuss how your family understands and copes with loss.”
Metcalf was a junior at Memorial who ran track and played football.
The teen’s father says Metcalf’s twin brother was at the meet at the time of the stabbing and did all he could to save his brother’s life.
