Police dog spots package at the airport and starts whining at the guard

Lebanon’s police initiated an investigation that resulted in an arrest after their police dog detected a package and began whining at a guard at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport.

The police dog, trained specifically to identify drugs, explosives, and cash, refused to move away from the package, showing clear signs of agitation.

The package had successfully passed all inspections, yet the dog’s behavior indicated that something was amiss.

This raised concerns for his handler, who requested a re-inspection of the package.

The box had small air holes—likely vents—and customs officials notified the bomb squad, who proceeded to evacuate the area.

After ensuring the area was free of explosives, they opened the package, which originated from Kazakhstan, and were met with a shocking discovery—two fragile and dehydrated tiger cubs.

They were concealed among dirty sawdust and could barely breathe, having endured days without food and water.

Upon their rescue, veterinarians took charge of the cubs, whom they named Tobby and Sophie, providing them with essential medical care.

Eventually, they were moved to a shelter where they began to recover.

Authorities launched an investigation that ultimately uncovered an illegal sale from a zoo in Kazakhstan.

Wildlife smuggling has increasingly become a concern at the border, and this incident was no different.

It was entirely due to the police dog that the two cubs were saved.
