The man who got pummeled by former NHL enforcer Nick Tarnasky on a golf course in Red Deer, Alberta, has broken his silence on the incident.

Earlier this week, a video of two male adults fighting at the Alberta Springs Golf Course in Red Deer, Alberta, went viral. The man who soundly won the fight was later identified as Nick Tarnasky, who played five seasons in the NHL.

The unidentified man appeared to be inebriated during the incident. He was clearly unafraid of Tarnasky, constantly getting up to challenge the former Tampa Bay Lightning forward in the lopsided tilt.

Reddit user DustyDave1971 claims to be a friend of the man whom Nick Tarnasky pummeled. The user claims his friend is “proud of himself” and revealed that he only suffered a partial black eye in the fight:

Well, it certainly could have been a lot worse, considering the unfair size advantage in that fight, and that Tarnasky nearly pushed him into the pond. No missing teeth and a lack of broken bones? The man better consider himself lucky.

Police have stated that they are not conducting a criminal investigation. However, the minor hockey league is investigating Tarnasky, who coaches a U17 hockey team in Red Deer.

A ninth-round pick of the Lightning in 2003, Tarnasky went on to play five seasons in the National Hockey League. He spent three years in Tampa Bay (2005-06 to 2007-08) before brief stints with the National Predators and Florida Panthers.

Tarnasky spent most of his career in the American Hockey League, the prime affiliate of the NHL. As a pro, Tarnasky racked up 297 penalty minutes in 245 games.
