Paul Skenes had a solid outing against the Minnesota Twins on Friday, although the scoreboard wasn’t as friendly as his stats.
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ young star pitched a 5.0 against Minnesota, allowing five hits and two runs while making six strikeouts in the 2-1 defeat.
His girlfriend Olivia Dunne was in attendance and appeared to make him nervous after she popped up on screen as he pitched outside of the zone right after, as can be seen below:
Paul Skenes Made History Despite The Disappointing Loss

While he won’t look back on Friday’s game fondly in terms of the result, Skenes will remember it for his 300th strikeout, which saw him become the first Pirates pitcher to reach the milestone in 43 career starts and one of just 17 MLB pitchers to do so.
He kept the Twins hitless through three innings after striking them out on just 12 throws, but the Pittsburgh offense couldn’t hold up their end, which has been the case for much of the current season.
They will face the Twins again this Saturday in their second game of their three-game series.
