So I know this article is locked behind a paywall, but if there’s anyone who won’t say anything about me cheating my way around the system it’s Michigan fans. Results > Integrity for them. And what I’ve found from illegally reading this article is that the NCAA is preparing to hit Michigan, as early as today, with Level I violations for the eggregious, game/life altering, rampant, off-campus, in-person scouting operation led by former staffer Connor Stalions until he reported back to head coach Jim Harbaugh with Navy Seals level type of information.
Now I’m going to write this next part with absolutely zero bias. I know I’m Ohio’s Tate but for the rest of this blog, I’m writing it just because I’m a college football blogger that needs to get this massive story on the website. So I’m simply only going to utilize facts and evidence from this point forward. And all of the evidence I’ve collected tell me that Michigan should be vacating 3 years worth of wins and their National Championship, at minimum. I mean, here’s a small sample size of the overwhelming amount of precedence you can use to show why cheating = vacating:
– Ohio State had to vacate 12 wins and the Sugar Bowl for players trading memorabilia for tattoos
– Georgia Tech’s 2009 ACC Championship was vacated because they notified Demaryius Thomas and another player ahead of time that they would be interviewed by the NCAA…..because they received $312 worth of clothing from a former player
– Tennessee had to vacate two years worth of wins in 2019 and 2020 for recruiting infractions that totaled…..$60,000
– Syracuse vacated their own wins from 2004 to 2006 because the YMCA paid players a total of…..$8,000….over 14 months. Were these kids getting paid minimum wage or what? The outrage!
Now I know what you’re thinking: not one of those infractions impacted anything on the field of play, while Michigan’s rampant sign stealing scandal went coast to coast and affected the scoreboard and the outcomes of games. So while you could easily make the argument that their punishment should be worse, you cannot possibly say it should be less. But apparently it is. Apparently the NCAA is simply seeking a “1 to 2 year postseason ban”. And the NCAA doesn’t even control the College Football Playoff? The weakest punishment of the bunch for the most egregious of crime. Do you remember when Jim Tressel wasn’t even ALLOWED to coach in the NFL because of the tattoos? Just a friendly reminder that Jim Harbaugh is currently the head football coach of the Chargers.
The only loser in this entire thing is Sherrone Moore. I genuinely feel bad for him. Harbaugh left him on 3rd base but instructed him to run back towards 2nd. He doesn’t have Stalions. He doesn’t have the players. He has the NCAA up his ass. And worst of all, he’s getting banned from playing in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, which is likely their team’s biggest goal this Fall.
