Gerrit Cole Can’t Pitch Because He’s Tired, Meanwhile An Egyptian Fencer Competes At The Olympics While 7-Months Pregnant

Did the Yankees win another game in Philadelphia last night after the Phillies’ bullpen blew a 2-run lead and their offense went silent for 6 innings? Yes, yes they did. Did that bastard Jazz Chisholm continue to be a Phillies killer by having his 2nd straight 2-home run night of the series? Yes, yes he did. But do you want to know who didn’t help the Yankees hand the Phillies their 5th consecutive series loss last night?

Gerrit Cole skipped his start on the bump last night after dealing with “general body fatigue”. The man was literally just feeling a little too sleepy to play baseball last night. A guy who only plays once every 5 days was too tired to throw a ball for a couple of innings.

And sure. Maybe I’m just pissed off at the Yankees right now and hate the shit out of all their fans who have made their way into Citizens Bank Park the past few nights. Maybe I’m just taking that frustration out on a man who gets paid $36 million per year to throw a baseball once every 5 days saying that he’s just a little too tired to perform. But Egyptian fencer Nada Hafez probably makes less than $3,600 to show up and perform at the Olympics for her country. And she still did so while being 7-months pregnant this week.

7 months pregnant. This chick is waking up 4 times a night to pee. She’s literally carrying around another tiny human in her belly right now that is stealing all the nutrients from everything she eats. Her feet are probably too swollen to fit in her normal shoes. She’s probably not having the easiest time in the world breathing right now. If any athlete on the planet right now is dealing with “general body fatigue”, I’d say it’s the 7-months pregnant fencer. But that’s not going to stop Nada Hafez from competing, because she’s a competitor at heart.

Gerrit Cole? Not a competitor. Guy doesn’t have that fire in his belly. He just happens to be nasty enough at throwing a baseball that he gets paid $36 million a year to do so.

Anyway, here’s to everybody else in the world who is making less than $36 million this year taking the day off because clearly Gerrit Cole said its okay. Feeling a little sleepy? Go pour yourself a glass of warm milk and tuck yourself back into bed. Tell your boss it’s what Gerrit would want you to do.
