Dallas Cowboys All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons attended the club’s preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night, but it sure looked like he preferred to be elsewhere.

After months of unproductive contract extension discussions, the 26-year-old Micah Parsons announced his trade request in a lengthy social media statement on Aug. 1. In his statement, Parsons noted that he gave his wish to Stephen Jones.

Despite requesting a trade, Parsons showed up at AT&T Stadium to watch the Cowboys’ final preseason game against Atlanta. Dallas won 31-13, with backup quarterback Joe Milton III totaling two touchdowns (one passing and one rushing) in the victory.

Though he decided to show up and support his teammates, Micah Parsons’s body language clearly shows he didn’t want to be there. Cameras caught him trying to nap on the trainer’s table during the contest:

Another fascinating note about Friday’s game: A Falcons fan told Parsons to come to Atlanta while he made his way to the Cowboys’ locker room, and the four-time Pro Bowler responded with a phone call gesture.

In case you needed to know how bad negotiations got between the two parties, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones claims that Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, told them “to stick it up our a*s.”

Per Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys’ team website, head coach Brian Schottenheimer was asked if he thinks Parsons will suit up for the season opener against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 4.

Schottenheimer told reporters, “I do,” when the question was asked, per Yarrish. Interestingly, the first-year head coach also said he wasn’t bothered by Parsons’ decision to lie down on the trainer’s table during the Falcons game.

Through his first four NFL seasons, the 2021 first-round pick has racked up 52.5 sacks, nine pass breakups, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Dallas has finished with a top-10 scoring defense in three of his four seasons.
