Army Black Knights football star safety Larry Pickett Jr. saved a man’s life on Sunday morning by pulling him out of a car on fire following a serious accident in Montgomery, New York.

On Sunday afternoon, the @BKKnightNation X/Twitter account posted a video of Larry Pickett Jr. and another individual maneuvering around downed power lines to pull the man out of a burning vehicle.

Pickett Jr. and the other individual safely removed the man from the car and carried him across the street to safety.

Carter Bahns of CBS Sports received confirmation that Larry Pickett Jr. was one of the people in the video who saved the man. Per Bahns, the Fire Montgomery Police Department reported that the vehicle hit a pole on Route 9W and quickly caught fire before the man was rescued.

Pickett’s father, Larry Pickett, shared an extended video of the events on his Instagram account. The man rescued from the car appeared to be alright and fully alert:

Larry Pickett Jr. Is The Nephew Of Former NFL Star Cornerback Ike Taylor

As noted by Bahns, Larry Pickett Jr. is the nephew of former Pittsburgh Steelers standout cornerback, Ike Taylor, who played 12 seasons with the AFC North club.

A fourth-round pick of the Steelers in 2003, Taylor emerged as a key contributor on a star-studded Pittsburgh defense that also included Troy Polamalu, Brett Keisel, James Harrison, Joey Porter and James Farrior.

Taylor helped the Steelers win Super Bowl championships in the 2005 and 2008 seasons, recording a game-changing fourth quarter interception off of Matt Hasselbeck in the red zone of Super Bowl 40, which Pittsburgh won 21-10.
