The high school football player seen getting his helmet ripped off and punched in the face during a game in Pennsylvania has spoken about the ugly incident.

Landon Honick, a player for the Elizabeth Forward Warriors, was the victim of a shocking attack during an outing against the Baldwin Highlanders on Friday night. While his team got the upper hand, winning 57-0, it came at a personal cost.

The video below shows him getting thrown to the ground while having his helmet taken off by a Baldwin wide receiver, Anthony Petro, who then punches him in the face while he’s seated on the ground.

High School Football Player Condemns Opponent’s Actions But Says He’s Not Mad

Landon did not retaliate on the field and has since shared a tweet in which he claims he is not angry, although he criticized Petro’s actions.

“My name is  Landon honick and I’m the player in this video who was hit in the face last night,” he wrote. “There is no room for this type of activity in sports and this unacceptable. I’ve had many people reach out to me to see if I am ok?”

“I just want everyone to know I am fine and I harbor no anger. I would like to wish Baldwin football the best of luck the rest of the season,” he added.

Baldwin really needs all the luck they can get. They’re one of the worst teams in the nation, having gone 0-10 last season and 1-9 in both 2022 and 2023. Of course, they’re still much better than the Columbia Eagles, who haven’t won a game since 2015.

Petro, meanwhile, is expected to be suspended for his attack on Honick.

While he was understandably frustrated by the game’s outcome, it’s hardly an excuse for punching an opponent in the face, especially while he’s seated with his back turned to you.
