Cameras caught Shane Lowry having to be held back by a crude heckler during the second round of the 2025 Ryder Cup on Saturday.

The 2025 Ryder Cup has experienced plenty of heated moments between the fans and players. Hecklers in the pro-American crowd were told to “shut the f**k up’” by Rory McIlroy before he hit a shot out of the fairway on the 16th hole, but that was only part of it.

We also had Bryson DeChambeau of Team USA involved in a heated argument with Team Europe stars Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose after the 15th hole. The caddies were even involved in that confrontation before DeChambeau managed to diffuse the situation.

For those who missed it, there was another restless moment between Shane Lowry and hecklers as Rory McIlroy prepared to tee off. As fans booed McIlroy, a heated Lowry was seen exchanging words with a fan and had to be held back by his caddie, Darren Reynolds:

If it makes Lowry feel better, Team Europe practically has the 2025 Ryder Cup in the bag. They lead 11.5 to 4.5 heading into Sunday’s final round.

Shane Lowry Is On Verge Of His Second Ryder Cup Victory

Barring a collapse of historic proportions, Lowry and Team Europe will successfully defend their 2021 Ryder Cup championship. Lowry was part of the team that won 16.5-11.5 at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome two years ago.

Shane Lowry was also a member of the 2021 team that fell to the Americans. But the 2019 Open Championship winner is about to secure another monumental victory, and given how much the fans have riled him up, it’s safe to say this one will feel extra special.

That is, again, assuming that Team Europe holds on to its seemingly insurmountable lead.
