Jake Paul suffered major injuries against Anthony Joshua.
Anthony Joshua knocked out Jake Paul on Friday night. It came in the sixth round of their heavyweight fight. Paul had a bad night on Friday after being pummeled by the former heavyweight champion.
When it was all said and done, the YouTuber suffered some terrible injuries. Paul said he sustained a “double broken jaw” and posted an X-ray on social media. He showed the two places where the break happened. That was just the start of his injuries.
Paul needs surgery that will require titanium plates. He also has to have teeth removed from his mouth. Jake also needs to be on a liquid diet for seven days. When asked whether it was worth it, he stated, “Yes.” Paul reportedly made a ton of money for this bout.
It’s not entirely clear how much Paul made from the fight. The $92 million figure has been mentioned multiple times. Wajih AlBaroudi of USA Today’s For The Win provided some clarity.
“The Daily Mail reported in November that the purse for the fight, which will stream on Netflix, is around $184 million. Paul chimed in days later with a number of his own, claiming on X that the purse is actually $267 million.
“Neither figure has been confirmed, though odds are it’s on the lower end based on Anthony Joshua’s comments this week. When asked whether his payout will surpass the career-high $52 million he made for fighting Francis Ngannou last March, Joshua said, ‘Unfortunately, it’s not,’ per Sporting News.”
Jake Paul Is Lucky To Be Alive
Anthony Joshua ended his heavyweight bout with a powerful punch to Jake Paul’s jaw. It would send him to the canvas for the fourth and final time. Not wanting damage anymore, Paul was counted out as he struggled to get to his feet.
Concerns had been raised in the buildup due to the mismatch in size and skills. Paul weighed only 216 lbs, while Joshua weighed 243 lbs. Not to mention the difference in height and stature. The two-time heavyweight champion is one of the sport’s elite power punchers, Paul was fortunate to survive.
Paul probably made well into the eight figures for this fight. For him, the punishment he received was probably worth it. He also took a good deal of punishment. Joshua landed 48 punches to Paul’s 16, per CompuBox.
Following the loss, Paul is now 12-2 lifetime with seven knockouts.
