Ray Liotta’s Cause Of Death Confirmed

Ray Liotta’s cause of death has finally been confirmed.

Liotta was an American actor who first gained recognition with his role in the film Something Wild, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

He’s best known for playing Henry Hill in the movie Goodfellas, as well as his role as Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams.

Tragically, Liotta was found dead in the Dominican Republic aged 67.

He reportedly passed away in his sleep.

At the time, the Cocaine Bear star had been on the island nation filming Dangerous Waters.

Documents obtained by TMZ reportedly state that Liotta had pulmonary edema, which is an abnormal buildup of fluid in the lungs.

It’s believed he also had respiratory insufficiency and acute heart failure.

Medical notes also claim that Liotta had atherosclerosis as an underlying issue. This is when arteries are thickened due to plaque building in the inner lining.

Fans of Liotta were left stunned when his passing was reported.

His fiancée, Jacy Nittolo, took to Instagram a few days after his death and shared an emotional tribute.

It read: “My life these past couple of years have been nothing but truly magical.

“Ray and I share a deep love that I will cherish in my heart forever. We laughed daily and we were inseparable. The chemistry was wild in the best way. He was everything in the world to me and we couldn’t get enough of each other. The kind of real love that one dreams of.”

Many celebrities also took to social media and paid tribute to the actor, with actress and singer Jennifer Lopez labelling him her ‘partner in crime’.

Ben Affleck’s wife shared numerous snaps of the pair together, alongside the caption: “Ray was my partner in crime on Shades of Blue… the first thing that comes to mind is he was so kind to my children.

“Ray was the epitome of a tough guy who was all mushy on the inside… I guess that’s what made him such a compelling actor to watch. The original Goodfella.”

Super Bad’s Seth Rogan also took to Twitter following the saddening news and tweeted: “Can’t believe Ray Liotta has passed away.

“He was such a lovely, talented and hilarious person.”

And Rocketman actor Taron Egerton recalled the ‘profound experience’ it was playing Liotta’s son in the Apple TV series Black Bird.

“I have never felt such an easy, warm connection with another performer. He was so generous. If I went one way he followed me. Always dancing. Always listening. Never self-generated,” he said at the time.

Liotta is survived by his 24-year-old daughter, Karsen.
