It did not stop there, as reports stated that players from Howard University and North Carolina Central began to argue in the parking lot near the visiting locker room.

HBCU Gameday reported North Carolina Central assistant coaches were involved in another altercation.

As a result, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced the results of its investigation and issued suspensions to a total of 36 players and one assistant coach.

Brawl Between Howard And North Carolina Central Gets Condemned

Following the football game between Howard University and North Carolina Central University, a broke out that involved many players running off the sidelines and engaging in violent actions.

Nineteen members of North Carolina Central University and one assistant coach were suspended.

Howard University had 17 players sidelined because they participated in the brawl.

In the days since the brawl, NCCU Head Coach Trei Oliver expressed his disappointment over what happened, labeling it “foolishness” during a press conference.

“Let’s play football. We have so much to play for here. We’re a championship program; we’re in a fight to get to the playoff, and now we’re about to get some guys suspended over nonsense. It’s bigger than that,” he stated.

MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills condemned the violence:

“The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has a zero-tolerance policy for fighting, as it directly violates the values of sportsmanship, respect, and integrity that define our Conference,” she said.
