Everyone was enjoying the Olympics over the weekend and probably will for the next couple of weeks, but sometimes it’s easy to forget how much training that these athletes put into their respective disciplines as most of us only really hear from them once every four years.

One guy who left it all out on the field though was Kristian Blummenfelt, a Norwegian triathlete who really kicked it into high gear on the last part of the running section of the event in order to beat Great Britain’s Alex Yee. Blummenfelt was running on fumes when he crossed the finish line and immediately collapsed onto the floor in an explosion of joy and relief:

That’s an emotional moment and you can see how much it means to the guy, but what the official footage failed to capture was Blummenfelt puking all over the finish line afterwards, which isn’t really that surprising given how hot it was and how much he had just pushed his body to the limit to get himself that gold medal.
Norway’s Kristian Blummenfelt wins the Olympic triathlon and then throws up. Unsurprising given the effort and the heat. pic.twitter.com/BJWcBuDQPU

Hot damn. You gotta love it when people give absolutely everything and get exactly what they deserve. That’s what the Olympics are all about. More of this please.
For more of the same, here’s one of the skaters with an absolutely gnarly bail from earlier today. It’s all happening over in Tokyo.
