One U.S. politician has been accused of wearing a fake Ohio State jersey to Saturday’s win over Texas.
Vivek Ramaswamy, a 40-year-old who was the youngest presidential candidate in the 2024 Republican primaries, hails from Cincinnati and is a known Buckeyes fan.
He attended the opening fixture on the weekend wearing a No. 32 jersey and was pretty active on social media during the game. Given the accusations, he may have balked at the outrageous ticket prices, too.
“We’re winning on field & soon we’ll be winning off field too. OH-IO!! 🏈💪🏼,” he wrote in one of his tweets.
The posts have led to accusations of his jersey coming from a bootleg site.
Ohio State Fan Vivek Ramaswamy Wore Suspect Stripes
Official team jerseys are sold through partners such as Nike and Dick’s Sporting Goods, while they can also be bought through Ohio State’s website. Of course, they are also available at much lower prices if you are willing to sacrifice authenticity.
Ramaswamy has been accused of the latter.
“Sad to see @VivekGRamaswamy, who’s worth hundreds of millions of dollars, steal NIL money from our beautiful Buckeye boys by pandering at the Texas game in a bootleg jersey. Have some shame, conman!” someone shared via X.
People believe Vivek’s jersey is fake because real Nike jerseys have sleeve stripes that are heat-pressed on. Knockoffs, on the other hand, typically come with a separate piece of fabric for the stripes, which are sewn into the sleeve and finished off with another piece of fabric.
As for the game, the Buckeyes’ defense made easy work of Texas, making Arch Manning look average in the 14-7 win.
